JESS HADDEN - THE MAN BEHIND THE LENS

Jess Hadden is an Australian photographer specialising in underwater imagery, with a more recent expansion into aerial photography.

Jess has always had a love for the ocean, which led him to start scuba diving at the age of 15 and becoming a scuba dive master at the age of 18.

Jess is in absolute awe of the world that lies beneath the surface of the sea, capturing underwater scenes in the natural light. He is also an avid freediver who  feels most at peace underwater, with an obligation to share its vast beauty with the world in orde to protect it.

Jess’ photographic imagery focuses on intimate encounters with Ningaloo marine life. Over the past 8 years Jess has called Ningaloo home, working

onboard whale shark interactive swimming tours. This has allowed Jess the opportunity to experience and capture extraordinary wildlife encounters on camera to share his passion with the world. One of his favourite images

‘Spot The Difference’ was shortlisted in the 2019 Australian Geographic, ‘Nature Photographer of the Year Awards’. The image exhibited in the South Australian Museum and featured in the Australian Geographic

annual photobook, magazine, and cover of the 2020 photo calendar.

Gallery 6707 was collectively opened in 2020 with local artist Sadie James, in the midst of Covid lockdown. Jess is currently focusing on capturing a

new aerial series to showcase the Gascoyne region of Western Australia.

On exhibit today are some of the new works along with some of his most

memorableunderwaterexperiencestodate.
